Bannerman Island On-Island Cruise and Walking Tour
Hudson River Adventures and the Bannerman Castle Trust, Inc
in cooperation withThe New York State Office of Parks, Recreation
& Historic Preservation offer exclusive guided tours on Bannerman
Island via the Pollepel. The tour is 2.5 hours long. Costs is
$30 per person for adults and children (11 and under) $25.00. Advance ticket purchase suggested. Groups are limited to 46 persons for a more personalized tour. Please wear comfortable shoes.

For those guests who feel adventurous your journey will begin
at Torches Landing or Beacon Landing. From there we take you
on a short boat ride over to the island on the Pollepel. Upon
reaching the island you will be greeted by your tour guide and
your group will be given an escorted tour of the rugged little
island. Your tour will include a lecture about the history of
the island and plenty of opportunities for photographs. Your
tour will take approximately one and one half hours (1 - 1/2 hrs)
on the island after which you will once again board the Pollepel
for a short ride back to historic Newburgh or Beacon.
We would like to advise our guests that some of the paths and trails are steep and there is a lot of walking, including 68 steps. Please wear the proper shoes and attire for a hike in the woods. (No high heels etc.) Please bring tick and bug repellent for use on the island. The island is still as primitive as it was in the early 1900's, No electricity, No running water. "Portable toilets" will be available at the island and bottled water will be offered for sale on the boat. Neither the boat or the island is handicapped accessible. No Baby Strollers Please. Due to safety issues we cannot go inside any of the buildings yet as they are in the process of being stabilized for our future use.

Metro North Package
 We've all heard of "building castles in the air,"…but building
castles on an island? Well, to see it for yourself, take a guided
walking tour of the majestic Hudson River landmark known as
Bannerman Island-Hudson Highlands State Park. Open for the first
time in 2004, Bannerman Castle is an amazing historic structure
built by frank Bannerman VI, between 1901 and 1918, on Pollepel
Island in the Hudson River.
Sit back, relax and take in the scenery while you take a magnificent cruise along the Hudson to the island aboard the Pollepel. While onboard you'll enjoy "Discover the Mystery," a narrated film, providing you with an overview of the Island. During your tour of the island, a Bannerman historian will share the castle's stories and secrets with you.
Reservations for tours must be made at least 14 days in advance
by calling Hudson River Adventures at (845) 220-2120. You must
ask for the Metro-North package when you call. Rail tickets
will be mailed to you. Tours depart at (rain or shine) from
the Beacon ferry docks, located just steps away from the station,
and last approximately 2.5 hours. Be sure to wear comfortable
shoes, as there is some rough terrain on the island, and the
walking tour including stairs. Please note: On the return trip
there may be as much as a 40 minute wait at the Beacon Station
to connect with a Metro-North train for your trip back to Grand
Central. Strollers cannot be accommodated. For more information

Travel Information: Take the Hudson Line to Beacon Station. When you get off the train follow the signs to the ferry dock, just steps away from the station.
